British writer Ray Wyatt is about to give up writing and his life, when he gets a call from an LA producer who wants to get Ray's depressing script Great Shame "on the fast track." Ray drives to LA, but his trip takes a detour when a serial killer dubbed the Karaoke Killer steals his car and the only copy of the screenplay. When Ray tracks him down and discovers the Karaoke Killer reading and liking Great Shame, Ray's fate, fame, and fortune ironically change.
