My Foolish Heart

A suspenseful, romantic drama of a woman's past and how it affects her daughter, her husband, her best friend and their futures is depicted with a deep understanding in this picture of a woman who has deceived herself and her husband. Susan Hayward makes the film a tour de force in the role of an impetuous girl who becomes pregnant, then marries her best friend's fiance in order to hide the truth of a previous illicit romance with another man. Dana Andrews and Hayward are the young couple precipitated into the love affair by the exigencies of war time. Kent Smith is seen as the husband who has been deceived but ultimately is freed to renew his life with the woman he loves. Gigi Perreau portrays the love child. This appealing love story of foolish hearts and of a spiteful, hasty marriage is a fascinatingly entertaining picture of truth and hope.
