An epic documentary, this is the quintessential American tale of fate, faith, heroism and inspirational triumph over insurmountable odds. This astonishing, yet true action adventure documentary is told through the eyes of Lieutenant Colonel William Edwin Dyess, one of the World War II's most extraordinary heroes. Narrated by Hollywood Actor and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Dale Dye (Saving Private Ryan, Band Of Brothers). On April 4, 1943, ten American prisoners of war and two Filipino convicts executed a daring escape from one of Japan's most notorious prison camps. The prisoners were survivors of the infamous Bataan Death March and the Fall of Corregidor. The prison from which they escaped was surrounded by an impenetrable swamp and reputedly escape-proof. Theirs was the only successful group escape from a Japanese POW camp during the Pacific war. Escape from Davao is the story of one of the most remarkable incidents in the Second World War. Known as the "one-man" scourge of the Japanese, the dashing fighter pilot dueled with enemy planes in aerial combat, led America's first amphibious landing of the war, survived the infamous Bataan death march and nearly a year of hellish torture, disease, starvation and slave labor in enemy captivity to help lead the only large-scale POW escape of the Pacific War and later, a top secret fight against the U.S. Government to break the news of Japanese atrocities to the World.
