Two drunken men commit a murder in 1849 on remote islands of the French empire. One of the men is sentenced to die by guillotine, but they have to have one shipped from Martinique. Over the course of months, the convict and his captors wait and the convict becomes friendly with his captors, putting them in a moral dilemma when the guillotine finally arrives.
Rated R for a scene of sexuality and brief violence.
