There's been a quiet storm brewing in Hollywood between MGM and Dimension. After the success of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre earlier this year, both studios have been making plans to film a re-make of 1979's The Amityville Horror.

MGM still holds the rights to the title of the movies, while Dimension went out and secured the rights to the story from George Lutz, who lived in the supposedly haunted house on Long Island. Now, the studios have decided to combine forces and bring out one better movie than two weak versions of the classic horror tale.

The Amityville Horror is set to film next year with a possible Halloween 2005 theatrical release.
