'Lost In Translation' wins big at Independent Spirit Awards

Hollywood gives out Oscars for the best in film. For ten years now, the Independent Spirit Awards have honored the best of Hollywood's anti-establishment, the independent filmmaker. What's that mean? Well, for one, you won't find any Hobbits here.

At Saturday's ceremony, Lost In Translation was this year's big honoree. Sofia Coppola's flick won for Best Feature, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Bill Murray won the Best Male Lead award for his role in the comedy.

John Cassavetes Award (For the Best Feature made for under $500,000) The Station Agent (Writer/Director: Thomas McCarthy)

Best Supporting Female Shohreh Aghdashloo, House of Sand and Fog

Best Supporting Male Djimon Hounsou, In America

Best Female Lead Charlize Theron, Monster

Best Cinematography Declan Quinn, In America

Best Foreign Film Whale Rider (Director: Niki Caro)

Best Documentary The Fog of War (Director: Errol Morris)

Producers Award Mary Jane Skalski (producer of The Station Agent and The Jimmy Show)

Someone To Watch Award Andrew Bujalski (director of Funny Ha Ha)

Truer Than Fiction Award Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk (directors of Lost Boys of Sudan)

Special Distinction Award (Awarded for excellence although it exceeded award guidelines) 21 Grams
