Movie website causing real controversy

In what amounts to a modern day example of Orson Welles' interpretation of War Of The Worlds radio broadcast, real-life advocacy groups are creating a buzz over a website created for the movie Godsend.

The movie follows the plight of a family who losses their son to an accident only to be approached by a doctor who claims that he can use cloning research to make a copy of their departed son. The site, located here, purports to be the online home of the fictional instiute from the movie where Robert De Niro's character, Dr. Richard Wells, works.

The site is so realistic and contains no outward link to the movie that several anti-cloning and anti-human genetic research groups have circulating online petitions.

Similar online attempts to blur fact and fiction have been used for The Blair Witch Project and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. Godsend hits theaters on April 30th.
