Take that, Hilary Duff! Lindsay Lohan has dealt a big blow to the ego of her young, female rival by being selected to host this year's MTV Movie Awards.

The 17-year-old Lohan will nearly be 'of age' when she hosts this year's Anti-Oscars on June 5. Lindsay will turn 18 on July 2. (The taped show will be first broadcast by the network on June 10 -- and then repeated ad nauseam.)

MTV's president, Van Toffler, cited the reasons for hiring her. He said, "Lindsay is smart, funny, she has an amazing connection to the MTV audience, and she's a huge star. That makes her the perfect choice to host this year's show."

Lindsay is in the middle of an unofficial -- but also unfriendly -- rivalry with fellow actress and aspiring singer Hilary Duff. Lohan is currently winning the battle with a hit film, Mean Girls, as well as a MTV movie award nomination. She is nominated in the Breakout Female category for her role in Disney's Freaky Friday.
