Brittany Murphy to be the voice of Tinker Bell

Disney announced on Tuesday that Brittany Murphy will star as the voice of Tinker Bell in a 2007 animated movie.

This will be the first time that Peter Pan's feisty sidekick will be given a voice. The Tinker Bell animated film will be the first in a new Disney Fairies line which follows a successful Disney Princesses line.

Murphy is an experience voice actor. She is the voice of Hank Hill's niece Luanne on TV's King of the Hill. Julia Roberts portrayed the Tinkerbell character in 1991's live-action film Hook. Ludivine Sagnier played Tink in Peter Pan, the 2003 live-action movie.

The film will have a direct-to-DVD release some time in 2007.
