Ahoy, mateys! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) The biggest movie of the year, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, is coming to DVD on Dec. 5. The Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley starrer will be available in a single-disc version and a special, two-disc edition.
The basic disc will contain audio commentary from writers Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio as well as bloopers from the film. The feature-rich edition will also include:
- "Charting The Return" -- Pre-production Documentary
- Pirates On Main Street: THE DEAD MAN'S CHEST Premiere
- "According To Plan: The Harrowing And True Story Of DEAD MAN'S CHEST
- Mastering The Blade: Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport
- Captain Jack: From Head To Toe
- Meet Davy Jones: Anatomy Of A Legend
- Creating The Kraken
- Dead Men Tell New Tales: Re-Imagineering The Attraction
- Jerry Bruckheimer: A Producer's Photo Diary
- Fly On The Set: The Bone Cage
The suggest retail price for the single-disc is $29.99 and $34.99 for the special edition.
The second in Disney's Pirates franchise has raked in over $410 at the U.S. box office. It is only the third movie in history to earn over $1 billion (yes, that's billion with a "B") internationally. The third Pirates film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, should be in theaters Memorial Day weekend 2007.
This announcement is coincidentally timed with International Talk Like a Pirate Day, a silly holiday invented in 1995. Captain Jack Sparrow would be proud.
