Variety reported on Sunday that director Ridley Scott will once again team with actor Russell Crowe for Nottingham. The Universal Pictures film will be a "revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale," according to the publication.

Crowe will portray the Sheriff of Nottingham in a story, apparently from his point-of-view, which has him teaming with Robin Hood to battle a corrupt king. In typical Robin Hood tales, the sheriff serves as the antagonist to Robin Hood's role as hero. The script was written by Sleeper Cell creators Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris.

This will be Crowe's fourth movie with Scott. They previously worked together on Gladiator, A Good Year and this fall's American Gangster.

Production will begin next year after Scott directs the Leonardo DiCaprio-lead thriller Body of Lies. We are anticipating a late 2009 theatrical release for Nottingham.
