No offense to Grease or John Travolta, but there's a new word in town and it's Spider-Man. Spider-Man 3 was so impressive, it even outperformed its own studio's predictions.

Spider-Man 3 ended the weekend with $151 million, easily surpassing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest's $135 million three day opening last year. Of course, such huge numbers automatically stir up talk about more sequels despite the cast and crew's very public reluctance to commit to further movies, including Spider-Man himself Tobey Maguire.

Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynto has expressed interest and pretty much went as far as you can go without giving an official green light to more Spidey flicks. In fact, numerous websites are reporting that three villains will be included in Spider-Man 4: Carnage, Lizard and Black Cat.

So, is this just post-box office smashing glow or is Sony really planning to move ahead with more Spidey no matter what the cost. With numbers like these, it's hard to see why they wouldn't.

As for John Travolta, he might look into a civil suit against Peter Parker for stealing all of his Saturday Night Fever moves.
