Warner Bros. has pushed out a new photo for next year's The Dark Knight Batman film. The studio has also published the teaser trailer for the film online.

The new pic has Heather Ledger (as The Joker) threatening Maggie Gyllenhaal (as Rachel Dawes) with a knife. Or it could be a potato peeler.

The teaser trailer for the film is just that -- a tease. It features no footage from the movie. It has a Batman logo with voiceover dialogue from Christian Bale and Michael Caine. That segues into a Joker playing card and Ledger dialogue and the Joker's trademark maniacal laugh. The trailer premiered in theaters before The Simpsons Movie.

You can see the trailer online (and in HD) on the new Dark Knight viral site WhySoSerious.com. [Update: Oddly, they've changed WhySoSerious.com into a tongue-in-cheek rent-a-clown service. You can watch the teaser trailer on Slash Film.]

The Dark Knight arrives in theaters on July 18, 2008.
