According to Entertainment Weekly's web site, Matthew McConaughey has been offered the title role in the big screen adaptation of Magnum P.I. The movie is based on the popular '80s TV series starring Tom Selleck as a private detective based in Hawaii.
EW says the actor is currently reading the script from writer-director Rawson Thurber and the role is his for the taking. Thurber previously penned the screenplay for Dodgeball.
If he takes the offer, I'm certain Matthew will ask Rawson to write in a few scenes where Magnum can take off his shirt.
Universal Pictures' Magnum P.I. is expected in theaters next year.
