In perusing all of the releases for the best and worst in DVD box art, I've discovered a bizarre and slightly troubling phenomenon. Many current and upcoming horror films have a thing for, uh, things coming out of faces.
Take a look at the packaging for these thrillers. I imagine the next horror movie using this format will be about a monster crawling out of someone's nostril. They can call it Boogeyman.

UPDATE #1: It's a comedy, not a horror flick but observant reader Micah suggested the poster for this summer's Eddie Murphy flick Meet Dave. It definitely meets the "coming out of a face" criterion.
UPDATE #2: Reader Ben harkens back to 1993 to point out that the art for Peter Jackson's film Dead Alive follows this same pattern.
UPDATE #3: Man, do we have great readers, or what? Jay and Ian provided The Company of Wolves and Bulworth, respectively.
