'Lord Of The Rings' On DVD

While it's an almost foregone conclusion that movies released today will be available on DVD as well, one new series of movies is taking DVD to new heights. The Lord Of The Rings trilogy will be available on DVD in 2004. The trilogy will contain a director's cut of all three movies that will showcase the brutality of the battle sequences that director Peter Jackson has to tone down to achieve his desired PG rating.

The three movies were filmed sequentially, one after another over the course of the last two years and will be released during the Christmas over the next successive three years. It was not immediately known whether each movie would be available on DVD individually when it hits video (probably the summer following its theatrical release).
