Russell Crowe goes to the Maximus for 'Robin Hood' (first photo)

USA Today brings us the first look of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood for next year's movie of the same name. The photo, which I stole from the rich USA Today for publishing on our poor web site, is below.

To me, the shot looks like Maximus with a bow and arrow. The Gladiator similarities don't end there. Like the 2001 Best Picture winner, Robin Hood is being directed by Ridley Scott.

USA Today talked with legendary producer Brian Grazer about the project. Here is what he had to say:

"He doesn't have the old Robin Hood tights," says producer Brian Grazer. "He's got armor. He's very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we're used to seeing with Robin Hood."

Among the merry men (and women) in this film are Cate Blanchett, William Hurt and Kevin Durand. Robin Hood is scheduled for a May 14, 2010 release in theaters.
