I'll be honest, when I first saw Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, I wanted to run up and punch George Lucas in the gut and demand a refund. It seems that I wasn't alone as Kevin Smith spoofed this very thought in his little seen (sadly) animated series Clerks.

It's ok, I've included the clip below because, well, it's just too funny not to be appreciated.

So, when I heard about this project called The People vs. George Lucas, I knew it was something that I would dig and something that I would have to write about, if only to use that awesome clip above.

The movie, which releases theatrically in June, is a documentary look at the die hard Star Wars fans their complete disdain for the new set of movies. It was recently announced that the film will debut at the SXSW Film Festival and in light of the announcement, a new teaser trailer was released (below).

While sure that trailer is neat and concise, I continue to be a fan of the original teaser trailer, which I've included below for comparison's sake. How's that for irony?

The People vs. George Lucas will hit theaters on June 2, 2010. What do you think of the trailers or what are your feelings regarding the prequels?

Also, I couldn't in good conscience end this story without also posting the end of the Clerks episode. This ending is perhaps my favorite in all of animated TV. "Oh my God, Bear is driving. How can that be?"
