If there's one thing that the people behind the remake A Nightmare on Elm Street have made clear, it's that you're not going to get a "clean" of the new Freddy until April 30 when it finally hits theaters.

Today, MySpace debuted the theatrical poster for the remake of the 1984 classic. This time around, the iconic sweater-wearing child molester turned serial killer from the grave is being played by creepy incarnate Jackie Earle Haley.

This decision would be universally applauded had it not been for Robert Englund's iconic turn as the original Freddy Kruger. It seems that most devotees of the original series of movies are up in arms over the new casting, but I think this poster will allay their concerns.

In the poster, Haley wears the trademarked fedora, sweater and knowing smirk that made the original monster such a hit with audiences. You can see a larger version of the poster by clicking here.

You can also notice in the poster that the producers stuck to their guns in making Freddy's burned visage more realistic of an actual burn victim and less cartoony. I can only think that this choice will pay huge dividends come April.

What do you think of the new poster?
