So, a list is basically someone's opinion about the order of things and everyone knows what they say about opinions. Given that, it's not surprising that a new list of "top movies" seemingly comes out every other week. Heck, we could create an entire web site devoted to nothing but chronicling said lists (hmm, a project another day perhaps?).

But every now and then, a list will catch our attention and we feel compelled to share it with all of you. Yahoo's list of 100 Movies to See Before You Die: Modern Classics is one such list.

The idea is quite simple. They've compiled a list (in no particular order except for year of release) of 100 movies released in the last 20 years that they feel everyone should see before they did. I know pretty simple, right?

Well, I suppose that's the beauty of this list. Given that these movies were released in the last two decades, most people will have most likely seen many of the movies on the list. Myself, I'm proud to share that I've seen a whopping 83 of the movies that appear on the list.

After looking at my deficiencies, it became apparent that I really need to start watching more foreign films. Also, the most glaring movie that I haven't seen (to me at least) was Elephant. I've been meaning to see that one for years.

The list spans movies from Goodfellas to Avatar and across diverse genres from Pan's Labyrinth to Groundhog Day. As with any list, there's always room to quibble and here are a few omissions that I found interesting:

What movies do you think should have made the list? Also, how many of the 100 have you seen?
