Les Grossman returns for MTV Movie Awards

Unless you have been living in a cave for the last 20 years or so, every one knows that MTV, aka "Music" Television, is anything but these days. No, the pioneering network resorts to a heavy stream of reality programming and whatever you would classify the trainwreck that is Jersey Shore.

But, there is still one event that they host annually that still makes them relevant to me (and I'm betting a whole lot of you). And that event is, of course, the MTV Movie Awards.

The MTV Movie Awards are pretty much the only self-aware awards show that is as far from "awards season" and clearly knows its place in the pecking order of things. While sure there are traditional categories that other shows highlight such as Best Movie and Best Male and Female stars, it's their unique categories such as Best Kiss, Best Scared-As-Shit Performance and Best WTF Moment that clearly make this the must-see event of the Summer on TV.

Of course, the awards show is simply just a charade to (barely) mask what is clearly just a well-placed podium to hype up the biggest Summer movie releases. That's why stars of the biggest movies this Summer are all set to be in attendance and either present awards or to simply share "exclusive" first looks at their movies.

And the best part of this year's event that we miserably failed to pimp up until now is that it will be hosted by our favorite newish comedian, Aziz Ansari. I mean seriously, that dude is funny.

If that wasn't reason enough to watch the show, then MTV is ready to pull out all of the stops when it started its marketing campaign last week and announced that Les Grossman will be producing the live event. You might recall that Les Grossman is the foul mouth producer that Tom Cruise brought to life in Tropic Thunder a few years back.

The clips so far feature Grossman imparting advice on Twilight: Eclipse stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and one very cool throw-back moment where we get to see Grossman impart his wisdom on a young Tom Cruise on the set of Risky Business, where Cruise reprises his role from his breakout hit.

Not surprisingly, Cruise also has a new movie coming out this Summer in the form of Knight and Day, which actually looks really good. The MTV Movie Awards air this Sunday. For now, enjoy the clips below and let us know what you think.
