Who will shoot first this time? 'Star Wars' heading to 3D in 2012

Will Han shoot first as in the original theatrical release of Star Wars? Or will George Lucas keep the inexplicable edit in which Greedo shot (and somehow missed) first from the 1997 theatrical re-release?

This seems to be the most important question to rise when The Hollywood Reporter confirmed today that Lucas's space opera is going to yet again be released in theaters with a shiny new 3D version starting in 2012. Yep, that's right, George Lucas will exploit my childhood yet again in pursuit of the almighty buck.

The plan is to release them in order, starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 2012 and then releasing the next movie each subsequent year, before we finally see the inevitable 3D finale with Episode VI: Return of the Jedi in 2017. Yes, that's six years in a row of 3D Star Wars movies.

Now, let's forget for a minute that these movies weren't shot in 3D and that the original trilogy finished filming before many of you were born, so does anyone still think this is a good idea? I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who's fed up with this 3D fad, and I especially can't stand movies that are converted into 3D films.

And really, does ANYONE want to see Jar Jar Binks in the third dimension?

I'm sure there will be new footage added and even more edits that will strike up a controversy, but perhaps in 2015, Lucas can finally restore Han's rightful place as being the one who shot first.

If not, could he at least digitally insert Jar Jar jumping into the scene and "taking the blast" for Han, thus killing him?

Now THAT I would shell out $15 to see on the big screen. What do you all think? Are you over Star Wars or will you gladly lineup to hand over your souls to George Lucas yet again?
