Remember back when Universal was buying up every board game under the sun? Yeah, those were some interesting days. Well, one of the board games whose rights that Universal optioned was Monopoly.

At one point, even Ridley Scott was attached to develop and direct the project, but the buzz around Monopoly has died down considerably in the last year or so. This wane in interest is probably related to the absurdity of trying to take such a board game and turn it into a live-action movie.

And besides, wasn't Wall Street pretty much the same thing?

Well, now at least we can get an idea of how a live-action Monopoly would look on the big screen. From the creative minds over at Half Day Today!, I present to you their trailer for Monopoly.

This isn't their first foray into faux trailers. This group created the hilarious Oregon Trail movie trailer last year that kept us in stitches and dysentery for the long winter months.

For those of you craving real board game to live-action movie action, Battleship debuts in theaters on May 18, 2012. For now, sit back and enjoy the hilarity of the trailer below and let us know what you think.
