Hollywood's recent trends extend much farther back

As someone who have complained incessantly on this site about the rash of unnecessary sequels, I found some solace today in the form of this article from Cracked.com. In a nutshell, the author posits that the five top trends that people claim are "destroying" Hollywood actually predate the existence of Hollywood itself.

It's a great read and done with just the right amount of wit and research that I wish I had the time to pursue here on a regular basis. One person who is picked on mercilessly by the author is William Shakespeare and to be honest, I think he's on to something there.

From now on, I'm calling him Sir William the Hack. Please read the piece and let us know what you think about his rationale behind the true start of sequels and remakes.
