'The Muppets' get 'Green with Envy' in their new trailer

My generation grew up on The Muppets, so there's always a bit of trepidation when I hear that there's a new project in the works. I mean Jim Henson was The Muppets, quite literally, so the idea of someone else stepping into Kermit's strings is usually nauseating.

Notice that I said usually.

After watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I knew that if there were someone worthy of trying to tackle a new Muppets movie, Jason Segel would be that person. Not long after that movie came, Segel's dreams came true and he was tapped to write and star in The Muppets.

Knowing that this was literally a passion project for Jason Segel, my expectations went through the roof and now it's time to see if the final product will match them.

The first teaser poster (right) came out late last week and to be honest, I was rather nonplussed. But, Disney made waves this weekend when the teaser trailer debuted in front of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

In a risky move that is paying off big time, the trailer starts out as a faux trailer for a forgetful Romantic Comedy starring Segel and Amy Adams called "Green with Envy," but quickly segues into a proper Muppets trailer.

The trailer is below and if you weren't convince to Disney's commitment to the whole faux movie with a trailer concept, check out the one sheet that they made for "Green with Envy" down below. The Muppets will be in theaters on November 23, 2011 and we can't wait, what about you?
