Alan Arkin gets iced in 'Thin Ice' trailer

I've always like Alan Arkin, so I'm not entirely sure why there's a lot of hostility against him in the new trailer for Thin Ice. Actually, it's a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, but that's only scraping the tip of the ice berg when it comes to this movie.

Greg Kinnear looks to be the real star of the film as an insurance salesman who is drowning under an avalanche of bad luck. He sees an opportunity to make a big score and naturally, things spiral out of his control.

From the trailer, the film looks to have a real Fargo meets Death to Smoochy meets The Man Who Wasn't There vibe going on and the dark comedy looks to be both sinister and touching at the same time. How can you not feel for Greg Kinnear's lovable character?

And Billy Crudup might finally have found a little niche playing the emotionally unstable security system installer that ends Arkin's life.

The film looks to be a nice little character piece about life falling apart to the absurd, but it might also contain a nice twist or two that will help to elevate it to the next level. Thin Ice opens in limited theatrical release on February 17. Let us know what you think of the trailer.
