Let's face it, there are literally hundreds of thousands of apps available, but most of them are pretty worthless. I have had an iPhone since the day they became available, but I'm probably the most particular among my friends when it comes to adding apps to my phone - especially if it's a paid app.

So, when the opportunity arose to review this new movie clip app, I was skeptical at best. Then I actually downloaded the app and got my hands dirty.

I'm happy to say that this app is well worth the effort and cost of downloading (it's free) and better than that, it's actually fun to play with. The concept of the PercyFX app is ingeniously simple. They take your favorite movie clips and allow you to add your name or message to the clip in order to personalize it.

I think the clip below does a good job of summarizing what the app is all about.

That is the demo clip that comes with the app and while it is pretty simple, you get a pretty good idea what to expect from the other clips. The app is pretty intuitive and features crisp, bright screens that make the app easy to use and enjoyable at the same time.

Once you have created your clips, the app houses them natively and gives you the option of sharing them via YouTube, Facebook or email. The one knock against the app is that you have to pay for credits to access the actual film clips. Fortunately, the price is insanely cheap. For $.99 you get three credits, $2.99 for 10 credits and the best value is $4.99 for 20 credits.

The nice thing is that you can view all of the clips and movies before you buy credits so you can actually plan how many you want to do then simply buy enough credits to satisfy what you need.

There are currently 18 different movies to choose from, but it would appear that the good folks at Percy are adding new films and clips to the app. Wayne's World is the latest movie to get the Percy treatment.

With American Reunion hitting theaters this weekend, the app is also relevant as it contains a few different clips from that franchise. In fact, we played around with one of those clips and came up with this.

You might want to check out the above clip, especially if you want a sneak peek at when we think American Reunion will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray.

With complete customization of the message in your hands, the options are endless. I think it would be a fun addition to any film buff's app repertoire. The major caveat is the few titles available, but one can imagine that they will keep adding films as time goes by.

It's pretty apparent that with Universal and Paramount on board, they have a large library of films to pull from. You should definitely check out the app and let us know what you think.

In the meantime, enjoy this little message from Tim and I.
