Who says that you actually need Jason Bourne to make a Bourne movie?

Universal seems content to go without Jason Bourne in the next film in the franchise The Bourne Legacy, or are they?

There are two curious moments in the just released trailer below that make you wonder just how are they going to tie up this pretty big loose end, or if they are intentionally going to leave the door open for a possible return by franchise star Matt Damon.

Damon's mug shows up in the trailer on a news report and there's even a mention that Jason Bourne is in Manhattan. Now sure, that mention could be a misdirection by filmmakers and part of the plot, but it seems that the film's marketing thus far has gone out of its way to set up Jeremy Renner's character as being distinct from Jason Bourne.

Sure, Renner's character could take on the Bourne identity when it's convenient, but I think it's something a bit ominous. I have a feeling that we are being set up for amazing fifth installment of the franchise that will feature both Renner and Damon together in something that just screams like it's the plot to The Expendables 3.

Getting two Bournes for the price of one would be like having a James Bond movie with both Roger Moore and Sean Connery playing 007. Speaking of Bond, is it just me or does the trailer below play eerily similar to the recently released trailer for Skyfall?

Check it out and let us know what you think. The Bourne Legacy shoots its way into theaters on August 3.
