We've been hearing rumors about it for months now, but it's finally official. A Christmas Story 2 will debut on DVD and Bluray on October 30.

In what can only be described as the sequel that nobody wants to see, Warner Bros. is bringing us yet another installment of Ralphie and the hijinks that his family and friends get into leading up to Christmas. The original A Christmas Story is a beloved holiday classic that is famously shown over and over and over again during a 24 hour period on TBS during the holiday season.

I think I speak for anyone who has ever seen the original that this film is bound to be an abomination. The original was released in 1983, so the entire cast is being replaced and I just don't buy Daniel Stern as the Old Man.

And don't even get me started on trying to replace Peter Billingsley.

But, I suppose I shouldn't judge a movie by its cover art. Here's the general gist of the film. Ralphie has given up his Red Ryder BB Gun and has set his sights on something bigger, a car. The story is set five years after the events of the first film, so I'm sure there will be plenty of awkward first love humor thrown in as well.

And if you were worried about the fragilé major award, the box art leaves little wiggle room, the famous leg lamp will be making an appearance in the sequel.

A Christmas Story 2 is getting a jump on the holiday traffic with its debut on October 30. I don't know about you, but this is one trick that I wish wouldn't treat us with its presence. The artwork is below.
