Look, while I might not be the most well-versed comic book geek out there, I do know that there's a real West Side Story vibe between fans of the two major comic book companies, Marvel and DC. We're talking Star Wars vs. Star Trek levels of hatred.

As an impartial outsider, I didn't quite get it. I mean, for the longest time it was next to impossible to get a comic book movie made, so you would think that comic book fans would unite to worship any graphic novel transformation to the silver screen, but that wasn't the case.

No, the vitriol between these two groups runs deep. We're talking Team Edward vs. Team Jacob vs. Team Bella deep. And yes Twi-hards, I do know that there is no such thing as Team Bella, it's a joke. Breathe.

So, when Marvel triumphed victoriously over DC this Summer after The Avengers kicked Batman's bat-butt at the box office, DC fans cried foul and pointed to their own superhero mashup film Justice League of America and said let's wait and compare apples to apples.

You see, this is what happens when comic book movies literally take over the box office. Next year, there are at least a half dozen comic book films coming out and the number is increasing each and every year. At times it seems like every other film in production is a comic book film.

One film that hasn't quite knocked our red boots off yet is the Superman reboot Man of Steel.

That all changed today.

The first full-length trailer debuted and I literally got chills and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. It seems that Christopher Nolan's touch was all Superman needed to get his groove back.

Now I don't want to get all Brodie about it and try to figure out where Clark Kent buys razors strong enough to shave that beard, but I don't care. It's just friggan' cool.

And that's the point. I'm glad that I'm not entrenched on either side of this war, because I get to enjoy the beauty of both sides. So far, the Marvel films have been big, glossy popcorn flicks, while the DC films tend to deal with the weightier issues.

Here, we see that front and center with Clark trying to rationalize with his father about keeping his super powers a secret. It's Clark's humanity that makes him Super-MAN.

That and Michael Shannon makes a total badass Zod. I was concerned about this film, but now I'm fired up for it. Check it out and let us know what you think.

If the wild west is more your thing, make sure you check out our article on the trailer for The Lone Ranger that also debuted today.
