Oscar Watch: Leo dances like a fool in 'Wolf of Wall Street' trailer

Martin Scorsese knows a thing or two about making New York movies. I suppose the only director "more New York" than him would be Woody Allen. Of course, you wouldn't hire Woody Allen to tell a story of Wall Street greed and mob infiltration.

Nope, for that type of story, there's no better director out there than Scorsese. And besides, I don't think you'll ever hear a Kanye West tune play in a Woody Allen trailer.

Scorsese is back and he's re-teaming up with Leonardo DiCaprio for the fifth time for the film The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is based on Jordan Belfort's best-selling memoir of the same name that tracks his early career as a stock broker.

Scorsese. Leo. Wall Street.

Yeah, this film has all of the ear-marks of a traditional Oscar bait movie. You throw in a solid supporting cast including Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey and Jon Favreau and you can see why the Academy is going to fall in love with this film.

Right off the bat, I think it will grab nominations for Best Picture, Best Director for Scorsese and Best Actor for Leo. Then, depending on his involvement, I could see a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Matthew McConaughey. In fact, it's his kookiness that sets the tone for the trailer and the film. And believe it or not, he's not the one going topless in the trailer.

The trailer doesn't particularly play like a "for your consideration" Oscar trailer. In fact, it resembles more the better parts of the Hangover films and I'm quite OK with that. The Wolf of Wall Street hits theaters on November 15, just when awards season will be heating up.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Also, tell us your favorite expression of 1990s excess. We can't decide between the chimpanzee or the little person tossing.
