It's funny, but just when you think you have a handle on 2015, a film pops up and reminds you that you don't really know anything. Last week, it was San Andreas and its unexpected domination of the box office, while this week it's the latest trailer from Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation to pique our interest.

It's not completely out of left field though as we were mostly positive about the first trailer, but we weren't completely blown away either. In fact, we predicted that it would earn $180 million at the box office which is about 20% less than its predecessor. But as we talked about in our latest podcast and the accompanying article, we formulate our predictions up to two months in advance and things can change to alter our opinion between then and release.

One thing that is making me want to bump the box office number up for Rogue Nation is the second trailer that debuted today.

While the first trailer relied heavily on Simon Pegg's comic relief, this trailer put Tom Cruise and his trademark Mission: Impossible action antics front and center. Don't worry though, Simon and the rest of the top-notch cast are still there and the result is a great trailer that does its job quite effectively.

There still isn't much known about the main threat to Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, but the Rogue Syndicate looks to be quite the worthy adversary. Set against Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love,' the trailer mixes the perfect blend of action and plot exposition to create a compelling argument to escape the heat come July 31.
