OK, fine. Sicario means hitman in Mexico, at least according to the trailer released today. But after you watch it, I think you'll allow me my indulgence of a second definition.

This is why I love what I do. Despite publishing lists of 30 potential sleepers each year, there are still films that can surprise us and come out of nowhere. Sicario is one of those films.

It features a great cast in Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro and a timely plot that revolves around the border drug cartels. Sure, some of it might remind you of The Bridge TV series, but I think it's fair to say that this film strikes out on its own.

If you're a fan of films like Scarface, Heat and Savages, then this film will be right up your alley. The scene of the bodies in the first 30 seconds or so is going to haunt me for a long time. That's a pretty powerful image.
