New trailer turns up the heat on 'The Scorch Trials'

You may remember that one film that I recently discovered was The Maze Runner. It wasn't that I was intentionally avoiding the film, it's just that it sort of got lost in the shuffle of dystopian future teen films. I always intended to watch it, but I just kept putting it off.

Well, I've now gone the other way with the franchise. After enjoying The Maze Runner quite a bit, I picked up the second book in the series, The Scorch Trials, and just finished it today. Coincidentally, the film version of The Scorch Trials hits theaters on September 18 and a new trailer debuted in theaters last week with Paper Towns.

Having now read the book, it's pretty apparent that they made a couple of significant changes to the material for the film. Chief among them is the visibility of WCKD and their decidedly evil intentions, despite the true motives of WCKD being given the slow burn treatment in the book.

Of course, I haven't read the third book yet, so it's quite possible that they simply moved some things from that book into this film to help tell a more cohesive story. The one thing that I know for sure is that the book ends on such a massive cliffhanger so if they mimic that in the film, I hope Fox is planning to fast track the last film.

Also, Fox released some cool character posters that I've listed below, including stars Dylan O'Brien and Kaya Scodelario.
