The 14th Century romantic poem of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is regarded as one of the greatest examples of medieval literature that has survived to modern times. The tale of Sir Gawain, one of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, and his encounter with the green armored Knight is steeped in Celtic, Germanic, and other historical cultures and folklores.
