Futures Vedettes

It is 1955 and the students of a Parisian performing arts conservatoire are young, talented, in pursuit of fame and recognition, and regrettably prone to petty infatuations and romance as well. The school is rife with teenage angst that pits students Sophie, played by Brigitte Bardot, and Elis, played by Isabelle Pia, against each other for the attention of their singing teacher (Jean Marais) - a handsome tenor with a fading career who uses his position to take advantage of his charges. Futures Vedettes/School for Love is a captivating study of the unfortunate consequences that befall those who succumb to unbridled spurious desires from both the outside and from within themselves.
