Peter O'Toole and Susannah York star in this controversial tragicomedy about a brother's obsessive love for his sister. Having left her husband, Douglas (Michael Craig), Hilary (York) moves in with her unbalanced brother, Pink (O'Toole), who uses wit and humor to hide his amorous yearnings. Agreeing to meet Douglas at a local dance, Hilary soon discovers to what lengths Pink will go to prevent a reconciliation. Directed by J. Lee Thompson, Brotherly Love was based on James Kennaway's 1961 novel Household Ghosts, which the author would later adapt into a stage play (Country Dance, 1967) and screenplay before his untimely passing at age 40 in 1968.
